A NOTE TO NEW FAMILIES:
Welcome! If this is your first time auditioning, we encourage both parents and dancers to read through our Audition FAQ below. Performing with the Hosanna Performing Arts Foundation is an exciting and wonderful opportunity for dancers, but it is also a big commitment. Please read through the following information and feel free to send any questions you may have to [email protected].
A NOTE TO RETURNING FAMILIES:
Welcome back! Every year we are trying to find ways to improve the show we present to the audience as well as providing the best possible experience for dancers and their families. Please contact us at [email protected] with any questions or concerns or for ways you want to help. We look forward to seeing you at auditions for our 24th production season!

Who can audition?
Dancers age 6* and older who have at least one year of dance training. Dancers must have taken a technique class (ballet, jazz, or modern) during the 2025-26 dance/school year and must commit to training during the 2026-27 dance/school year.  *Must be turning a minimum of age 6 by Sept. 1, 2026. Opportunities for our youngest cast members, dancers age 4 & 5 , are announced in the fall.

Where are auditions?
Hosanna Dance Studio, 1361 River Road, Eugene Oregon. Directions.
HPAF Board or committee members will be on hand to greet dancers and provide direction.

What should I wear to the auditions?
Dancers should arrive with hair and clothes appropriate for a typical ballet class: hair pulled away from the face and completely out of the way; tight fitting dance clothes in solid colors; dance shoes. Shorts and t-shirts are not recommended. Full dance attire reflects better on the dancer's audition.

What should I bring to the auditions?
Arrive with a smile on your face, a willing heart, and a filled waterbottle. Please do not bring any dance bags, extra clothes, food, etc.

Do I need to be enrolled at Hosanna Dance Studio in order to audition?
No. While we are fortunate to partner with Hosanna Dance Studio as our home-base, dancers from various studios are welcome to audition. All dancers who audition must have been enrolled in a dance class for the dance/school season prior to auditions as well as commit to enrolling in classes during the show dance/school season,  but that class does not have to be through Hosanna Dance. Please be advised that some roles & levels will require enrolling in a dance class over the summer months and/or in specific classes in the fall.

Do I need to attend all audition nights?
No. It is only necessary to come to one night of auditions, according to your most recently completed dance class level.

Which audition day and time should I attend?
Dancers should attend the scheduled audition time based on the last completed level in Ballet, Jazz, or Modern. These levels are based on Hosanna Dance Studio levels. If you attend another studio, please see the question below.

What if I attend a studio other than Hosanna Dance?
We welcome dancers from any dance studio! The Hosanna Performing Arts Foundation and Hosanna Dance Studio work closely together, but they are separate entities. If you attend a studio other than Hosanna Dance and have more questions about our program, please contact the Hosanna Performing Arts Foundation. We would be happy to have you join us.

When are pointe auditions?
Pointe auditions will take place at the end of the audition day for levels 3–4.

What if my dancer has a fever?
If your dancer is sick or has any symptoms such as a cough or a fever, please keep them home and contact the HPAF board right away so that we can make accommodations. This will not affect casting decisions in any way.

What if my dancer can’t attend the scheduled audition time?
Due to summer plans, we know that some people will have a conflict with their scheduled audition time. If your dancer has a conflict, please email the HPAF board for accommodations ([email protected]). In some cases, dancers might be put into a different audition group; in other cases, dancers will be asked to send in a video audition. (In any audition scenario, all dancers will receive equal treatment at casting time and won't be at any disadvantage.)

Will there be a parent meeting during auditions?
Yes! A parent or guardian will need to attend a parent meeting at the start of auditions.

Can parents stay on site during auditions?
Yes. If you choose to drop off your dancer; however, we ask that you stay within 10 minutes drive of the studio so that you are nearby when your dancer is finished and ready for pick up. We will do our best to approximate ending times.

How long do the auditions last?
Unfortunately we can't predict how long the auditions will last, as it is dependent on how many dancers want to audition. All dancers should be prepared to stay as long as necessary, knowing that we will release dancers as soon as we can.

What is the participation fee?
In order to cover the costs of studio time, instruction time, and dancer t-shirts, we charge a non-refundable participation fee for each dancer. In return, the dancers receive weeks of top-quality dance instruction that we believe far outweighs the cost. The participation fee for the 2025 production season was set at $115. We do not anticipate a fee increase for our 2026 season.

When will audition results be posted?
The cast list is posted as soon as it is available... sometimes within a few weeks after the auditions are completed, but sometimes longer. A lot of thought and prayer is put into the decisions. We will do our best to get the cast list out as soon as possible.

Where will audition results be posted?
The cast list will be posted on the dancer page.

Where can I find information about rehearsal schedules?
In general, we rehearse Saturday and Sundays from late August until show week. The week of the show we expect dancers to be available every night of the week. Specific rehearsal times will be posted on the Dancer Links page as it becomes available.

What if I have more questions?

If you have any further questions, please contact the Hosanna Performing Arts Foundation.
